All Animals are Equal is a sound piece created for the Neighborhood Public Radio Project at Southern Exposure Gallery in San Francisco, CA. (see also www.neighborhoodpublicradio.org) The artists recorded a reading of the entire George Orwell text, Animal Farm, and digitally raised the frequency of the audio file until it was just outside the human range of hearing, but still within the range of most domestic and wild urban animals.
The broadcast was broken up into chapters and aired over the course of a week. During each broadcast, Fletcher and Reichert invited animals to the gallery and read aloud Cliff’s Notes for the human audience members.
